Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
It was a humid August day in 1936. Hundreds of thousands of spectators, police, and soldiers gathered for the colossal event. Six continents and 49 countries were represented. Flags from many nations were flying but the most obvious was the Swastika. That year the Olympics was hosted in Berlin. Although athletes from all around the world were present, the main attraction that day was not the skilled athletes but the one who would preside over the event – Adolf Hitler.
Adolf Hitler left the chancellery standing upright in his Mercedes limousine, his right arm lifted in a Nazi salute. Tens of thousands of Hitler Youth, storm troopers, military guards, and hundreds of thousands of German citizens massed along the way. They leaned out of their windows. They jostled for position. They waved their flag. As the limousine passed they extended their right arms in salute. The pulsating waves of “Heil! Heil! Heil!” washed over the surrounding area. The loudspeakers blared, “He is coming! He is coming! He is coming!”
At the moment, and to the crowd it was a thrilling experience. In retrospect it is a chilling remembrance. The day was amazing to those in attendance but a day is coming which will make the magnitude of that 1936 day blush at its insignificance. Prostrate in worship, the blood washed saints from every age, every tribe, every nation, every color, will be gathered around the throne of the One who was and is and is to come. In heavenly harmony the sound of their voices will cascade over the hills of glory as they cry out “Holy! Holy! Holy!” in reverence to the One who is the Victor over sin and Satan.
