The Judgment Seat of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:5-10 (10)

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Col. Robert G. Ingersoll, who was nicknamed “The Great Agnostic,” was giving a lecture on hell. He declared he would prove beyond doubt that scheming theologians had invented this horrific imaginary place to terrify people so that they would accept Christ. Launching into his subject, he was interrupted by a half-drunken man.  Attempt to hold himself erect the inebriated man called out,  \”Make it strong, Bob. There\’s a lot of us poor fellows depending on you. If you are wrong, we are all lost. So be sure you prove it clear and plain.\”

It has been reported that William Claude Dukenfield, better known as W.C. Fields, the aethist comedian, was in the hospital when a friend came to visit.  His friend was surprised to see W C Fields with an open Bible.  Evidently he was searching for something.  When asked what he was searching for, Fields replied, \”I\’m looking for loopholes.\”

People do not want to be held accountable for their disregard for God’s Word.  They do not want to be held accountable for their disdain of God’s Way.  As a result, it is common to hear people attempting to justify their sinful lifestyle.  Someone has stated that the most commonly quoted scripture is “Judge not that you be not judged.”  It is most often quoted by those who do not love God or live for Him.  They urgently seek loopholes to justify their sins.  The sad thing about this scenario is that the unchanging Word of God says, “It is appointed unto men to die once and after that the judgment.” (Hebrew 9:27)
