Psalm 119:113?120 (114)
George walked into a photography studio with a framed picture his girlfriend Helen had given him. He was so pleased to have it he had decided to have it duplicated. In order to do this the employees of the studio had to remove it from the frame. In doing this, the studio owner noticed the inscription on the back of the photograph: \’\’My dearest Tom, I love you with all my heart. I love you more and more each day. I will love you forever and ever. I am yours for all eternity.\’\’ It was signed \’\’Helen,\’\’ and it contained a P.S.: \’\’If we ever break up, I want this picture back.\’\’
Some Christians have a problem with commitment as well. This was not the case with the Psalmist. He stated clearly that God was his hiding place. He did not mean that he would enjoy the protection of God until he could find a better and more convenient way to feel safe. If you are totally committed to God you do not say that He is your shield while you are shopping for a more attractive and cheaper shield that you think will serve the same purpose. Commitment to God and a godly life does not mean that you will serve God as long as it does not cost you anything, is convenient, and comfortable. You burn your bridges behind you. You cut off all possibility of retreat and commit to continue with God. Your hope is in His word. You are depending completely on Him.
