God’s Blessings

Isaiah 56:5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

Walt Disney was the creative genius of the Disney enterprise, but his brother Roy Disney guided the business side and finances. Someone asked Roy about his relationship with Walt, and he said, “My brother has made me a millionaire, do you wonder why I want to do everything I can to help him?”

God has blessed us abundantly more than this feeble illustration. Our gratitude to God should be endless, for He is the One who has literally given us everything we have.

It is so disappointing to see people who want to be blessed but don’t consider that they should be a channel of blessing as well. And yet that same attitude is displayed too often among Christians. God wonderfully blesses us but we are slow to bless others.

According to Jewish tradition, only God could bless the people in the beginning. God blessed Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply. God blessed Noah and his family in the same manner when they came out of the ark. But there is a turning point in Genesis 12. God did something incredible. He passed on to Abraham the ability to bless others. God responsibility continues today for the people of God.

Start each day with a prayer asking God to use you as a conduit of His blessing.
