Called to Be Faithful

Mark 4:21-25 (24)

Billy Graham was being interviewed. The journalist was intrigued by the success that Billy Graham had experienced.  He asked if Billy Graham expected to receive great rewards in heaven as praise for the tremendous impact on many lives in his worldwide ministry.

Graham said that he was not sure.  He knew that, God was the final Judge, and he was certain that others would have greater rewards.  Then Billy Graham told the journalist of an elderly woman who was at that moment on her knees praying for her little country church, her family, and her nation.  For nearly 80 years, the lady had been faithful to her Lord. She had been constantly praying, and reading the Bible daily.  “That lady and many others like her, will receive the greatest rewards in heaven,” said Graham.   Then he added, \”You see, we are not called to be successful. We are called to be faithful.\”

Whenever God gives us a responsibility, we must accept it.  We must do our best for His glory and honor.  It is imperative that we treat each small task as important and demonstrate that God can depend on us. Then, one day we will hear the Lord say, \”Well done, good and faithful servant.\”
