The Universal Gospel

Isaiah 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

George was hurrying to work. He was trying to think of what he could give his wife for her birthday. As he was mentally flipping through the feasible possibilities he suddenly stumbled. Looking back to see he saw an old kerosene lantern partial buried in the ground. He rubbed the dirt off the side and to his surprise a genie appeared.

The genie said, “I can’t give you your wishes but I will give you three things for freeing me from the lantern. I will give you a potion to cure all sickness, a very large diamond and a dinner date with a famous movie star. By the time you get home all of these gifts will have arrived.”

That evening when he arrived at home he excitedly asked his wife if anything had been delivered.

“Yes,” she said. “It’s been an unusual day. This afternoon, a 55-gallon drum of chicken soup arrived. About an hour later the mail came. There was a letter saying one of your uncles died and left you a minor-league baseball diamond. A few minutes ago, MGM called, inviting you to dinner with Lassie tonight.”

Sometimes good news is not the best news. However, God sent us a love letter telling us that He was sending us a gift. The gift was His Son. And the gift was not just for the people of Israel but for the whole world. Because of this good news we today can have a personal relationship with God and an assurance of living with Him forever in heaven.
